The first Mosten intern, UCR Graduate Student Rachel Meeker, garnered her experience while assisting UCR Ombudsman, Indu Sen, during Fall quarter, 2008.  Together, Rachel and Indu researched, planned, and organized a training seminar in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, which 30 people attended, including students, faculty, and administrators.  Rachel also met with Professor June O’Connor to discuss readings in the literature on these matters and reflect on what she was learning.

Additional training sessions are being envisioned, and will be tailored to the needs and experiences of all three campus constituencies (students, faculty, and staff).

The Southern California Mediation Association has provided funding, in the name of Forrest S. Mosten, to support an additional one or two interns as well.  We are eager to expand internship opportunities off campus as well as on, and we invite agencies, institutions, and businesses that are committed to the philosophies and practices of mediation and conflict resolution to partner with us in these efforts.  We hope that interested parties will contact Professor June O’Connor and Ombuds Indu Sen to explore possibilities:;
